I was randomly listening to Tchaikovsky's "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" when I had one of those weird nostalgic moments. Back in 3rd grade, our music teacher had us put on a cute little skit of some of Tchaikovsky's pieces from "The Nutcracker Suite." I remember her asking me if I wanted to be "the" sugar plum fairy, and then my 3rd grade mind just being blown away. I gladly accepted.
Then my dream was crushed when I found out I wasn't the only sugar plum fairy. (There were several of us. Had she told me that, I probably would have denied her offer. Seriously, I was one of those sleek and stubborn kids. Still kind of am...but that's another story for another day...) After all, some of my friends ended up being with me on the skit, so that was probably what motivated me to do it even more.
We had the most adorable matching outfits and brightly colored candy canes. I think my mother recorded that entire skit. (I danced with that candy cane LIKE A BOSS!) Should I find it on her old camcorder, I'll be sure to put it on YouTube.
